Medicare Rebates for Psychological Services
Blueprint Psychology is a registered provider with Medicare, allowing clients to access Medicare rebates for psychological services. Medicare rebates are available for individuals referred by their GP through a Mental Health Care Plan or Eating Disorder Plan (EDP). The following options are available:
-
Mental Health Care Plans: Clients can access up to 20 sessions per calendar year for psychological treatment. These sessions focus on mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, and trauma.
-
Eating Disorder Plans (EDPs): Under the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS), clients with eating disorders are eligible for up to 40 sessions per year under an EDP. This includes treatment for conditions like anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and binge eating disorder. Each session is eligible for a Medicare rebate, making treatment more affordable for individuals seeking support for eating disorders.

Helping Children with Autism (HCWA) and Extended Funding for Children and Young Adults (Up to 25 Years)
The Helping Children with Autism (HCWA) initiative is a government-funded program designed to support children with autism up to the age of 25. This funding helps with assessments, therapy, and interventions, promoting early intervention and ongoing support for individuals at different stages of life. The program has recently been extended to include individuals up to 25 years old, providing continued support for young adults.
Under HCWA, the following is available:
-
Up to 8 Medicare Rebates for Diagnostic Assessments: These rebates are available to assess autism and other developmental conditions. The rebates can be claimed for each session, with a minimum rebate of $96.65 per session.
-
Up to 20 Medicare Rebates for Therapy Services: These rebates can be used for therapy services that focus on areas like communication, social skills, and behaviour management, and are available for both children and young adults.
This initiative ensures that individuals can receive ongoing support as they transition into adulthood, with access to psychological services that address their unique developmental needs.

Private Health Insurance
Many private health insurance providers offer rebates for psychological services. The amount reimbursed depends on your health insurance provider and your level of cover. If you have private health insurance, you may be able to claim part of the cost of therapy sessions with Blueprint Psychology.
We recommend contacting your provider to confirm the details of your coverage and any potential rebates available for psychological services.
