Fees

At Blueprint Psychology, we aim to make mental health services accessible and affordable for all our clients. A standard session is 50 minutes.

The Australian Psychological Society recommends a fee of $300 for a 45-60 minute session. We charge below the recommended rate, and there is a gap fee for some of our services.

Funding and Rebates

Better Access Scheme/Mental Health Care Plan (Medicare):

The Australian Government offers subsidies for mental health services under the Better Access Scheme. To access this scheme, you need a Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP or a referral from a Specialist Doctor. Currently, you may be eligible for up to 10 subsidised sessions.

It's essential to understand that a referral through the Better Access scheme does not entitle you or your child to free sessions with our psychologists. Instead, you will receive a rebate for each session after payment of the full fee. The rebate amount you receive depends on your Medicare threshold for the year.

Autism Assessment Rebates:

For individuals under 25, the Helping Children with Autism initiative offers Medicare rebates for psychological assessments and interventions for Autism or other Pervasive Developmental Disorder (PDD). Medical practitioners, including GPs (MBS item 137), consultant paediatricians (MBS item 135) or psychiatrists (MBS item 289), play a crucial role in the program. These professionals can assess, diagnose, or create treatment and management plans for people under the age of 25. Following this, they can refer children to eligible allied health providers to aid in the diagnosis or contribute to the treatment plan.

For assessment:

  •  8 rebates (minimum $96.65 each, more if you have reached the safety net threshold) under Medicare code 82000

For therapy:

  • 20 rebates (minimum $96.65 each, more if you have reached the safety net threshold) under Medicare code 82015.

To Claim Rebates:

  1. First Referral: Obtain from your GP with the wording: "Thank you for seeing [client's name] for assessment and management of ASD." This covers the first 4 Medicare rebates.

  2. Second Referral: After the first invoice is paid, you will need a second referral with the wording: "Thank you for seeing [client's name] for further assessment and management of ASD." This covers the additional 4 rebates. Note: The second referral must be dated after the first invoice.

National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS):

We accept NDIS clients who are either agency-managed, self-managed or plan-managed. We charge the NDIS recommended rate for psychological therapeutic services, which is $214. There is no gap fee.

Private Health Funds:

Please contact your private health insurance provider to determine your eligibility for rebates. Keep in mind that most providers may only contribute to your service once you have accessed government-funded services such as those under Medicare. Please note that if you consult with a Provisional Psychologist, you may be unlikely to receive a rebate from your private health provider, and this should be discussed during intake.

We want to ensure you receive the support you need, and our team is here to assist you in understanding and navigating the available funding options. If you have any questions or require further information, please don't hesitate to contact us. At Blueprint Psychology, we are dedicated to providing comprehensive and compassionate care to improve your well-being.
