Hello, I'm Steve
A provisional psychologist and ADHD coach at Blueprint Psychology. I specialise in addressing anxiety, depression, adjustment disorders, acute stress, sleep irregularities, and overall mental health and well-being. I'm particularly passionate about working with individuals who have experienced trauma, neurodivergent populations, families, children, and those facing suicidal ideation. My journey into psychology was inspired by the belief that helping others to thrive creates a positive, upward cycle of well-being.
I deeply value the courage it takes for clients to open up and become vulnerable. For me, both assessment and therapy are privileges. I strive to repay my clients' trust with empathy, commitment, positive regard, and genuineness.

I hold a health science degree and a master’s degree in rehabilitation counselling from The University of Sydney. I completed my Graduate Diploma of Psychological Science at ACAP, followed by an Advanced Diploma of Psychological Science at Monash University. Currently, I am completing my Master of Professional Psychology at Macquarie University.

My Story
In my practice, I utilise a variety of therapeutic modalities. I enjoy using Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) to help clients improve skills in mindfulness, distress tolerance, interpersonal skills, and emotion regulation. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a foundational element in my sessions, where I educate clients about the model and work with them to identify and modify unhelpful cognitive distortions. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a personal favourite, and I often engage clients with its principles of present-moment awareness, defusion, and values.
My approach is always underpinned by motivational interviewing, which I find to be an excellent delivery system for all therapies. I'm also interested in schema therapy and aim to become certified in EMDR, Gottman Method, and internal family systems therapy.

I describe my style as comforting, resourceful, practical, engaging, motivational, empathetic, and dedicated to providing a safe and secure environment. I believe growth begins at the edge of discomfort, and I encourage anyone considering therapy to acknowledge the strength it takes to embark on this journey.

One of my favourite quotes is by Viktor Frankl: “Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.”
